I passed this scale yesterday- closed- the scale was out of the ground.

I travel this route 5 times a week. It is usually a hit and miss using US HWY 1. They patrol this route more often then the HWY 46 to 58 route. I have been pulled over on US 1 and escorted back to the scale on 85 to get weighed. The 58 route is a little longer but it seems as if it is not patroled as much. Take your chances and good luck!

I travel the I-85 route often and have found that hwy 46 is not the best of roads. Coming from NC to VA on I-85 north I use Exit 15 (South Hill exit HWY 1). Follow 1 North about 12 miles were it crosses 85 and return to 85 north bound. This puts you on I-85 and exit 33. Follow same route on return but reversed.
