There are now scales on 60 between 295 and state route 249 (Bottoms Bridge, ex 205). They are not open all of the time, and can only weigh one direction at a time (usually East bound). I have noticed, that since there is no scale house, if it is really hot, cold, or raining, ect they are not open. No dot cop wants to stand in the cold rain all day!

Most of the time the scales on 1-64 east of Richmond are closed after 11 pm and not open again until 7am. They are mostly closed on week-ends. If you are not over 65' in length you can run U.S hwy 60 and get around them. Going east just get off of 1-295 on to hwy 60 and run it about 4 miles and get back on 1-64. Coming west get off @ Exit 205 turn left and then right on 60 and this will bring you back on 1-295.
