Location: Hollins (2.4 miles south of the light at exit 150 A (the junction of route 11 and 220 alt), 1.7 miles north of route 115 (to 220, to I 81))

Parking: 2.4 miles north of the scale there are a Pilot and a TA, 3.1 miles south of the scale there may be truck parking at the Hardees (just south of route 115). If you are headed southbound and find the scales are open, just north of the scale to the east there is a sign for Vista Corporate Park which may be big enough to turn around in- also there is a Virginia Truck Center dealership/repair shop just north of the scale.
Information
Locals say this scale is open fairly often. This is one scale that weighs trucks in both directions- but it is better set up to weigh northbound trucks.

This scale was open a couple of weeks ago, but only for northbound 11. This is the first time in 10 months I've seen them open, and I go by regularly.

I live in this area and go through this scale all of the time. They don't scale or inspect many trucks south bound on 81. If you go around on rt 11 the smaller scale is almost never open. There are usually a couple of dot cars sitting there but not open very often. I have never seen them weigh anyone southbound on rt 11, because they have to cross rt 11 to get to the scale. Beware all ways around this scale are 13'8" height.
