Weigh Station Alert! Roadcheck 2008 Updates

4th, 2008 by Coops Admin

The annual tag]CVSA Roadcheck 2008[/tag] is underway and we’ve received updates about various weigh stations around the country.

Banning, California: Officers say it’s business as usual, which, of course, means they will be having plenty of inspections. Officers at the Banning scales will be keeping records for the CVSA to provide information of their inspections during the Roadcheck period. No word on Banning east bound. As always, officers say that when they have enough personnel working during a shift, some officers will head over to the east bound side. Nothing special is planned for the Roadcheck, however.

Yulee (Jacksonville), Florida nb /sb: Officers at the Yulee weigh stations are doing vehicle and paperwork inspections at an increased level for the Roadcheck. Officers wanted to be clear that they do perform inspections regularly as a part of their daily routine, but that they have increased the number of inspections during the Roadcheck.

Joplin, Missouri, eb /wb: Officers are performing increased inspections during the Roadcheck. Both the east bound weigh station and the west bound weigh station will be open a full 16 hours during the day today.

Cambridge, Ohio, eb /wb: officers say they are participating in increased inspections as part of the CVSA Roadcheck. Drivers reported that the Cambridge weigh stations were performing truck inspections on June 2nd but officers say that those inspections were not official Roadcheck inspections (thanks, James F, for letting us know about the 6/2 inspections!).

Plymouth, Washington, wb: The Plymouth weigh station is currently closed according to weigh station personnel - officers were not present and inspections were not in progress. We have no information if this is a temporary closure for today or if this is a long-term closure for repairs or other purposes.

According to CVSA ’s Steve Kepler, about 10,000 inspectors are working during this year’s Roadcheck. This year, inspectors will be paying special attention to seat belt use.

There is a massive DOT check going on at mile marker 112 on I30 on East Bound side! They are set up very well and looks like they’re going to make a night of it. Just passed them June 5th about 10am.
