Kentucky Updates
Kentucky has a lot going on this April- from construction projects to law enforcement blitzes. Bottom line; keep your eyes peeled, your ducks in a row and your life on the straight and narrow.
US Route 60 Enforcement Blitz
115 miles of route 60- spanning Hancock, Daviess, Henderson and Union counties- will see increased DUI, seatbelt and speeding enforcement. Law enforcement officers have signs placed along route 60 marked “Targeted Enforcement Area” to warn drivers that they are entering an area where they are more likely to get a ticket for disregarding the law. The focus is safety, not tickets. But avoiding tickets is incentive to drive safe.
Breathitt-Pennyrile Parkway Construction
From mile point 61.85 to 65.393, repaving and bridge repairs will result in a 55 mph speed zone and doubled fines for speeding. Expect lane closures. By April 9th, the repairs to the bridge will begin. There will be an 11 foot width restriction on the bridge. The construction project is expected to last through the month of June. This is a $1.527 million project.
Construction Update on the Wickliffe-Cairo Bridge
The height restrictions in the construction zone will be 16 feet 24-hrs. From 12 noon to 4 pm daily (central time), wide loads up to 16 feet will be allowed to pass. All other times, traffic is restricted to 10 feet wide. The construction is expected to last through the end of October.
