So what would you do if someone entered the truck and put a gun to you and made you drive? My solution to this unlikely situation is easy. I have told my wife that if this ever happens to strap in because I am going to wreck the truck in such a manner to injure or kill the intruder. If that means laying it down, hang on. Any thoughts on this topic?

Hard to say, but i made a habit to look my doors, wether driving or parked...Just in case, I always have my tire thumper laying to my left on the floor between the seat and the door. Plus, when you look at my picture, I have my Bart strapped in the window on the passenger side. But if it ever happens, hard to say how to react....

I can't really say until the situation presents itself but I do know that I'm not going to give up without a fight. Like swissy I keep my tire thumper next to me...my tire thumper is a short handle 3 lb. sledge hammer and it comes in handy for a lot of uses like opening and closing difficult trailer doors or beating on the pins on the slider track of old trailers. Ive never used it as such but I have a feeling it might come in handy in close quarters combat as well...It's what we used to call a "Harley Tool"!

I don't know about that one never had the situation happen to me but I have been in the truck with one of our other drivers while that has happened. The person supposedly "jacking' the truck only wanted his and my wallets, didn't want the truck. Well the driver I was with told him to hold on so he could grab his wallet cause we were at a red light at night. Well on his way to supposedly grab his wallet he winked at me right then and there I knew some $hit was gonna happen. Well the stupid person holding the knife actually looked the other way for like 3 seconds to talk to his friend. Well when this happened my friend grabbed his tire knocker and whacked the little F***er in his head knocking his a$$ out he fell off the truck and we just drove off. That was a close call but i don't know what I would do if it were me alone?

Some ways to avoid a possible jacking:

DON'T HAUL ANY TYPE LOAD someone might want, like Tires, Cigarettes, etc...HIGH VALUE stuff. Vehicle Haulers are subject to what's available.
REFUSE TO PULL ANY TRAILER picked up in a drop yard before you have inspected the load. What is written on a BOL doesn't always conform.
DON'T TALK on the cb about ANYTHING related to your load or destination. There ARE LOTS OF EARS about!!
Pay attention to your surroundings AT ALL TIMES, day and/or Night!!
I have since a few years ago quit volunteering ANY information about Load Content and Destination except to my Wife or to Officers, Troopers on a Need To Know ONLY basis. YOU NO ASK, I NO TELL!!

I've never been in any type situation related to a High Jacking and I'm not saying a time will not come.
I have no idea what may transpire given the aspects of such an event.
The outcome will depend entirely upon a few factors:
1) Time of Day or Night.
2) How awake I am or how I am awakened.
3) Where I am; Truck Slop, other Parking Area, On/Off Ramp.
4) With what I am being assaulted, ie., Gun, Knife, Club, etc.
5) Should I be forced to drive someone somewhere.

There are many other factors to consider in making a conclusion however those 5 are pertinent to me.

I am not without Weapons/Tools:
A fully sharpened K-Bar with Sheath next to my seat and a retractable Razor knife next to it, another Razor Knife in a drawer behind the seat, a small Tree branch saw bladed Knife overhead, a 3# Sledge Hammer and a 24 oz. Straight Claw Hammer within easy access. I also have a Wrist Rocket Sling Shot with 100 rounds of Steel bead shot. I'm not very good with a Sling Shot yet close range....

This Company has a rule against carrying Pistols, Shotguns, Rifles, yet not Fireworks, Firecrackers or other such incendiaries/explosives.

Be aware of your surroundings at all times, prevention is the best. Pepper spray for Bears (not dot bears), tazer, electric stun gun may provide for good protection. I agree with the idea to fight, however, there are to many senerios out there on how one would react. Lock your doors, look in your mirrors before exiting. If anyone approaches your unit arm your self and goto the sleeper or just drive off. At night if anyone approaches turn off all interior lights. I carry Bear spray, it will shoot up to 30 feet with great pressure and will slow the aggressor buying one valuable time. The ability to protect yourself and stay alive is more important than your truck or your load as an end result, either way keep yourself alive your need back at the house.

I always make sure that the truck is ready to roll just in case- I don't like parking nose in (like Idleaire)

Great point, I always back in for a quick exit. Ready to roll....no one in the way, or the way out may be over them. Idle-Air should have security, but their profits supercede their objectives. I have been approached at Petro and TA even while on Idle-Air. Personal saftey is important all the time.
