Holidays only come once a year. My mom makes the homemade
hard candy and chocolates at Christmas. Eat and enjoy |
Your reference to hard candy reminded me of an old family recipe. My Grandma used to take those old fashioned rock candies that looked like quartz crystals and put 'em in a Mason jar...then she'd fill it up with bourbon...Voila! Homemade cough syrup. It not only took your cough away, it made you forget you were sick in the first place. My brothers and I actually looked forward to getting sick...LOL. My mom tells me that back during prohibition Grandma used to make alcoholic root beer in the bathtub.
She was one heck of a woman, my Grandma was!
