Information

The weigh station uses Pre Pass and also has lighted signs in the roadway so that non-PrePass trucks can also bypass when given the okay. But if you're thinking about blowing by the scale even if you don't get an okay to bypass, think again. They have cameras installed on the roadway to catch your license plate number in that event.

There are signs in the roadway leading up to this weigh station that say that all commercial vehicles must weigh, that all vehicles with livestock must weigh and that all commercial vehicles carrying produce plants or seed must weigh. There is an agricultural checkpoint at the Sanders port of entry.

The first and foremost item all Arizona POE's looks for is your registration weight. They'll want to see your power unit and trailer registrations and the weights better cover your actual weight, or plan on a citation. Not a big deal for most semi's as they usually have plenty of registered weight on the power unit.

But I drive a one ton dually (11,400 GVWR) with a take three trailer (20,000 GVWR) That gives me a legal load GCWR of 31,400 LBS. Both AZ registered. In AZ the max trailer registration is 10001 lbs, so the rest has to be on my dually. I didn't think you could register a one ton P/U beyond it's max GVWR, but you can and have to if your planning on having a combo weight over 21,401 LBS

And yeah I don't recall the name, but the inspector was a young female, very rude and arrogant. Her supervisor however officer Murphy was very professional and curious, although I still received a citation (later dismissed in court), he cut me some slack.

I had came across the scalehouse on 10/14/07 @ 1658 hrs and was waited on by a C Francis for a single trip use fuel. Her attitude towards me was downright absurd , unprofessional, ignorant to say the least. I did come in from what they described as having an attitude however I beg to differ and did not expect to be treated in this manner. She is not a good example on how state employees should act and would I think she needs serious help with her attitude. I wish to file a formal complaint on this individual and would appreciate someone getting back to me. I understand the power they must feel sitting behind that desk with no accountability for their actions but if this is the kind of people this state is going to have work for them then they need to strongly look into the type of people they hire.
